The photography of Lori Nix evokes a strange mix of feelings: nostalgia, wonder and a little bit of fear. She considers herself a “non-traditional photographer” in the fact that she actually constructs the subject matter of her images rather than going out and finding it. To me, that makes her work even more impressive. Her intricately built sets are fantastic works of art in their own right and what’s even more incredible is that she doesn’t utilize any digital manipulation. Everything is the product of precise lighting, scale models and perfect composition.
